Wondering how to order a custom hat... read on!
Each custom hat is hand made by Shona using traditional blocking and shaping methods. No two hats will ever be exactly the same, which makes each piece unique and one of a kind.
We only use high quality rabbit fur or beaver felt, as these materials are known for the durability and assure years of wear.
So what are the steps to getting a custom lid?

After checking out my other work on this this page, or my Instagram, make contact via messanger or email. We’ll be in touch to book a consultation shortly after to discuss your custom design.

After you have decided that you need a custom hat in your life, we request a non refundable $200 deposit to secure your felt and place in the production line.

Next is where the fun starts... Design and Fit consult...
This can be done in person or online via video chat or Messanger.
Come armed with inspo. It's good to think about what kind of hat you are after.
Is it a dress hat, a work hat, a bit of both. Casual or more formal.
Colours you wear, do you want it "Knackered" so it looks well loved from the first time you wear it. Any design details, such as embroidery, stamping, medallions etc.
All this will be discussed and penciled in at the design stage.
From here a quote will be formulated.

I now get to work making you hat.
First it is blocked over an open crown block to the size required.
Then Shona hand stitches your leather sweat in, trims the brim and shapes the crown (known as the bash) to your desired look. Finishing off with the trims and details as discussed.
All this takes some time, with periods in between of rest for the felt.
Allow 8-12 weeks from ordering. If you have a special event you would love to wear your new hat, let Shona know at design stage and we will try and accommodate. At times this expedited timeline may incur an additonal fee.
5.
Once your hat is ready, we will send some pics over for you to get excited over. Your balance plus shipping is then required, before we box up your new hat and send it off to your eagerly awaiting hands to start the adventures.
Shipping times are very variable, and unfortunately I cannot be responsible for delays in shipping once the hat leaves my workshop.
You are provided a tracking number and each hat is insured before posting.

PATIENCE IS NEEDED....
As Shona likes to give each piece her undivided attention, its best to have 8-12 weeks in your mind before your hat is ready to ship. This may vary depending on your design, and current number of hats already in the production book. There are times throughout the year where I cant be in workshop and this will affect production time, but I will let you know at ordering if this affects you.
We require a non-refundable deposit when placing your order. This is to secure your materials. Your remaining balance is due once your order is complete, prior to shipping.
